22nd April - National Schools Team Championships - West Sussex U13 National Champions

Tanbridge House School has for the first time won the Under 13s National School Team Table Tennis Championships, making them the best U13s school team in the country. This is a fantastic achievement with Charlie Graham-Adams, Zach Hodges & Ollie Michell (all members of the Horsham Spinners Club), as well as Horsham TTC member, Jacob Evans. Last year representing Southwater Junior Academy, Graham-Adams, Hodges & Michell along with Sheel Malde (also from Horsham Spinners), won the U11s event and this year in their first of 2 years in the U13s age group, they have won again! Will Michell, Ollie's brother, did a great job of coaching the team on the day. Spinners coach, Rory Scott said ‘This is an incredible result, as 3 of the boys are still in the U13s event next year and they won the U11s event last year’.

The first round of the finals held in Hinckley, was a comprehensive 7-1 win over St. Mary’s College, Hull, whereas the second match was a thrilling 5-3 victory over Longfield Academy, Darlington. Final opponents, London Academy had won vs Hull & drawn with Darlington, so a draw was needed by Tanbridge in the last round in order to take the national title. It was a real nail-biter and came down to the last singles, with London leading 4-3. Ollie Michell stepped up & beat Shikhar Pandey 3-0 to get a draw in the match and overall victory. It was a real team effort, but Graham-Adams & Michell stood out, as they both won 5 out of 6 matches & both lost their one match by the smallest of margins. Charlie said: “It feels brilliant to win. I think we won because of our team chemistry and the support we had from each other was brilliant as well."

Please see picture of the winning team with the Cup and their medals here.

28th March - National Schools Team Championships - West Sussex U13 Team

The Tanbridge School U13 from West Sussex, consisting of Charlie Graham-Adams, Jacob Evans, Zach Hodges and Ollie Michell, reached the finals of the Butterfly National School Team Championship to be held at Hinckley on 16th April. In the Regional Finals held in Bristol they beat The Grange (Christchurch Dorset) 8-0, they then beat Wood Green (Wednesbury, Black country) 7-1 and finally they beat Ernest Bevin (Wandsworth, London) 5-3. The Team consisted of 3 of the winning U11 Team from last year. Congratulation to them on this achievement and good luck on the 16th April. Unfortunately the U16 Team were not able to progress coming up against Whitgift School who had two top Cadets.
